Can't Sleep

I hate when I get like this. Happens at the same time of my menstrual cycle every month. Insomnia.

The beginning of it is very soft, very seductive. You don't know that you're afflicted until the first time you blink and notice that the back of your eyelids feel like sandpaper.

I shut my eyes and take many deep breaths when I am in the weeds like this. There's usually a 50/50 shot: either I am lucky enough to get back to sleep or I spend the night trying to blink some moisture into my eyes.

Right now they are beginning to get that lovely "I just washed my eyes with the gravel I found on my driveway" sensation.

So I have that to look forward to.

  1. my insomnia bothers my wife more than it does me but I find that after a few days I get desperate and start taking gobs of medication and it usually doesn't work until I'm knocked cold for 14 hours. Yours comes like clockwork, mine haunts me nearly every night. I'd prefer mine to yours though, it's less bothersome when you are used to it.
