Diet Days #7
I haven't been at the gym yet this week; I'll probably go tomorrow. The past three or four days I've been napping on and off during the day so when gym time rolls around I'm usually too groggy.
Today was different because I had to do a lot of grocery shopping; my kitchen was almost completely void of flavr.

I have been doing a lot of cardio but I haven't been loosing much weight. I really need to stop thinking I'm 21 again and can eat whatever I want and not gain any. Even after Lexi was born I didn't gain weight like I have right now. Back then I was putting myself through a lot of intense, high impact cardio. It gave me a lot of injuries but my figure was looking great.
Now I'm trying to find that happy medium-I need low impact aerobics that burn calories. That's why I'm on the treadmill so much when I am at the gym. I'm going to start playing with the incline feature though: I have a friend who blasted 2100 calories for being on the treadmill for two hours at an 18% incline and a 3.5 mph speed.
I've walked with a slight incline at 3.5 mph before, but never that much. I think I could manage doing that for maybe half an hour at best. I'm still kind of out of shape so I'm really going to push myself to do what she did. Eventually, of course. I don't go to the gym to try to kill myself in the name of burning calories: I have a kid I have to take care of who's a meatball and I need my strength to be able to pick her up and carry her. When I was working out to the point of injury, it was when my daughter was only a newborn, and newborn's don't do a heck of a lot as you can imagine. I had the time to recover back then. I don't have that anymore.
I also binged the past couple of days. They haven't been the worst binges I've ever done, but it's still bad that I did. I really am trying to wien myself from binging but only those who are also exercise bulimics really know what I'm going through.
I'm really trying not to drink soda but it's like my form of crack. It's ridiculous.
If my stupid stuff keeps happening I'm basically setting myself right up to get diabetes, high blood pressure, and bad cholesterol. All of that runs wild on my dad's side of my family and I am not about to be taking diabetic etc medication along with all the pills I have to take already.
Slow but steady I suppose....

Diet Days #6
NJ has been getting a fair amount of snow lately; tomorrow we're supposed to get more. The plows seem to love ignoring the side streets were I live so the roads might get all full of potholes again. Our town just put in a lot of money to replace the plumbing and streets on my block and near me; hopefully it doesn't take them another ten years to finally decide to fix the roads like they did last time if we do get damage on the street.
The temperatures have been pretty cold, the snow isn't melting, thus my cabin fever. I go out for a walk so that I don't get myself all upset about being stuck in the house day after day. Mini Me isn't used to he snow and we don't have a snow suit so she hasn't played in it yet.
Luckily I get to go to the gym today so I'll be out of the house for about two hours. I've been using the treadmill the past week, walking for one hour three days a week. Today I'm going to add some time on the elliptical so I can burn more calories for my hour walk. I've also been utilizing the machines around me: my favorite one is called "The Butt Blaster" and trust me, it lives up to its name. All the machines are making it easier for me to lift and carry my kid, which is a really good thing since Mini Me is a meatball.
I think my lifting and the fact that I gain muscle so easily is the reason I'm not really losing any weight yet. I haven't gained anything which is good.
I can't wait until the pounds come off and I'm back in my "fighting weight", then all the calisthenics will pay off.

blue and yellow purple pills
Let me just say that being on a very high dose of Serequel SUCKS because it makes you want to eat everything in sight! I just stocked up on a bunch of healthy foods (lots and lots of fiber)so I figure if I'm going to be on an eating binge I'd better be eating foods that won't do much if any damage.
I haven't met anyone who has had to struggle with the weight gain side effect of Serequel: I wish I did.
Oh well. Back to my Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon.

Diet Days #5
Ever see that guy from the oatmeal commercials now pushing heart and diabetes medication instead of oatmeal? If one eats oatmeal daily it cuts down your cholesterol etc. and 8 times out of 10 it will keep heart trouble and diabetes will not be in your future, or they will be significantly lowered.
Another thing that bugs me: why does McDonalds sell that "southern" sweet tea and not green tea? Does anybody know how much green tea can help their immune system and overall health? Plus it's cheap and calming at the end of the day if you get the decaf.
I drink a caffeinated cup of green tea in the morning instead of coffee or caffeinated soda. If every fast food joint and chain restaurant served green tea this country would get a whole lot healthier. But I guess our government doesn't want us to be healthy, they want us addicted to sugar so they can make billions of dollars through diabetes and heart medication and treatments.
It's so simple to keep a good diet that doesn't cost much, you just have to put the effort into it to change your livestyle. It's a long road but it is really worth it at the end of the day. You only have one body so you better make sure to take care of it.
Real talk: green tea works wonders: it burns fat and it full of antioxidants. It may be an acquired taste but it is more than worth adding to your diet arsenal.

Diet Days #4 1/2
I just got back from Acme. They had bagged spinach and salad mix for a buck a bag, so I stocked up. I found this interesting looking dark chocolate oatmeal for a buck a box. Loaded up on those. The rest of my arsenal is as follows:
~Activia yogurt with cereal
~bananas
~microwavable one person serving bowls of brown rice
~whole wheat bread (with at least 3g of fiber, always make sure you get the bread with 3g of fiber in it)
~kellog's fiber granola bars
~v8 fusion juice/veggie blend
~green tea pouches
This will keep me content for a good while.
I'm really trying to change my pallet. Sometimes it feels like forever until I get that nice mellow satisfied feeling that I get from eating the right foods and drinking the right liquids. Zen, I suppose.
I really can't wait until I get my Ipod. I'm going cyber-window shopping for one tonight.

Diet Days #4
Ok, so I ate two huge slices of devil's food cake that I made. I didn't wreck my caloric intake that much which is good. I'll have something light for dinner and a snack if I need it.
I started drinking skim milk for the first time a couple weeks ago, and even though it is watery it isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
I need to add more salad into my diet; I might have one tonight if I have the proper veggies available.
The good thing about today is that I'm feeling that I don't want to binge as much as I used to. My medication can make you pack on some serious weight, but I'm not about to go down without a fight: I worked really hard to get my figure back after I had my daughter, so you can imagine I am not going to let a measly little pill wreck all that hard work I did.
Speaking of pregnancy; I think my biological clock has started ticking. I really want to have another kid all of a sudden. I want to meet a man and marry him and have another child. I'm 28 and I do not have a clue what my future holds, but sometimes it gets tiring: looking for the mate that is right for you.
I want to be able to move out of my parent's house and have a family of my own. I want it so bad.
Time will tell and I try my best to wait patiently for the right man to come along.

Diet Days #3
I broke down and ate a whole king size Kit Kat bar for my before bed snack, which was stupid, but I really didn't do much damage to my caloric intake for yesterday which is good. I also had three servings of another Kit Kat bar as a part of my breakfast this morning. And I'm drinking my regular Carnation instant breakfast with skim milk. Oh, chocolate, I am your slave forever more.
I really don't want to beat myself up too much for going for whatever food I'm craving, but I'm really really trying to stick to correct portion sizes, which I have actually done a pretty good job memorizing (good trick for when you're at a restaurant or diner etc.), so wherever I eat I'm pretty sure of the calories I just had.
Lately I've been looking up whatever foods I eat or crave regularly online to see how much fat and calories it has. That way I can just refer to previous journal entries about how much I've eaten and drank.
I have a DVD called "living room yoga" that I got from my sis a few Christmas's ago, but it's rather advanced for me, so I just do whatever I can before I feel too overwhelmed.
I think today I'll be going to the gym rather early since the wind is so bitter cold today. I'm always looking forward to my workouts which is something I haven't felt in a long time.

Diet Days #2
I have apparently lost about five pounds since I started going to the gym, which is great. I hope to lose another 3 pounds by next Thursday.
Diet is going a lot better: I binged on a bag of Hershey's chocolates with almonds a few days ago and ate a few too many soft pretzels (I live right outside of Philly and I am ADDICTED to Philly soft pretzels. It's a sickness.).
I've been making sure to drink my green tea and I got a couple of composition books from my father and I'll be using them as my food diaries. So far I have stuck to the program today so that makes me feel good.
The problem with me is when that instant hits me that makes me want to put somebody's eye out for the craving that just slapped me in the face. I really really REALLY need to check myself before I wreck myself when it comes to food cravings. Then I won't have to worry about getting diabetes, because the way I've been feeling lately, I can tell it would definitely be in my future if I didn't step up to the plate.
The struggle is in maintaining your new schedule and the new weight that is the hardest part of all. Losing weight is nothing. It's maintaining that's the bitch.

Diet Days #1
I started going to this gym that's right around the corner from where I live. I've been going there for about a week now. I haven't lost any weight but I can feel my body starting to get used to working out again.
A year ago I was dancing for an hour a day in my basement, and it sure as hell kept me in shape, but because I was dancing on concrete, it sure as hell caused me a lot of back problems. I don't do that anymore and I am replacing that with the gym. I stopped working out a while ago and I actually started smoking a few weeks ago, but that's something that I'm going to kick so that I can workout easier and not loose my breath too soon while working out.
Mostly I just do the treadmill and the elliptical, then I do calisthenics to try to get my body toned up.
My diet on the other hand, still needs a lot of work. I'm trying really hard not to binge anymore, and if I do binge I'm trying to do it with foods that are healthy and won't pack on the pounds. It wasn't too long ago that I was sitting in front of my TV wolfing down a whole package of cookies over and over and over, along with a huge amount of various high fat and junk foods. I mean, talk about eating your feelings: I was doing it pretty hardcore for weeks. Now it's time to face the music and lose the weight that I gained because I was stressed or sad due to all the trauma that was going on at the time.
Honestly a part of me doesn't want to go because I'm sore and working through that stupid pain barrier sucks, but I don't want to break the momentum I have managed to start. I am seriously done with "Yo-Yo Dieting". I'm getting too old for it.
