GBE2: WEEK #13 (8-14-11 to 8-20-11): TRUST

Beyonce: "You know Gaga, trust is like a mirror. You can fix it when it's broke-"

Lady Gaga: "but you can still see the crack in that motherf*cker's reflection."

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I give everyone I meet a clean slate. Their past is of no concern to me: I am only interested in their truth as they tell it to me. In the back of my mind, I am fully aware that there are two sides to every story. I am not the type of person who automatically agrees with someone just because they happened to give me their side of the story first. I need both.

I am open minded. It takes a lot to make me genuinely angry. I forgive, but I never forget. What is forgiven is stored away in a piece of my heart, the piece that wants to believe that people really aren't as evil as they want you to believe they are. Evil may change forms, but so does good. The lunar tides of both revolve around this speck in the middle of infinity that is Earth.

  2. Very good. Evil may change forms, but so does good. I like that!

  3. Good job! It takes a lot to make me angry, too. Mostly, it takes purposeful hurtfulness or dishonesty. I'm not a fan of either of those things and while I always forgive (carrying a grudge is far too heavy a weight to lug around), lost trust leaves a forever mark.

  4. Trust makes good relationships and also destroys good relationships for each of us. Breaking ones trust is the ultimate of betrayal to me. I may never 'move past' a betrayal as far as reconnecting with that person, but I will also not be burdened with the hurt so forgiveness is almost automatic, or is it just dismissal?

  7. Like you I can forgive--but I don't ever forget--and part of me is never 100% trusting after someone defaults. I always remind myself there are two sides to every story...

    Cheers, Jenn

  8. You and I have something in common...I believe in people and change, but I hope I am smart enough to know when what is - is. I think we have the right attitude. Nice job!
